The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner. Book review!
As soon as I saw this book I knew I will buy it. The cover is absolutely stunning and I definitely judged this book by its cover. Even though I loved the cover and synopsis it took me quite a while to actually read it because I am a procrastinator.
About this book:-
Caroline is celebrating her tenth wedding anniversary alone after finding about her husband’s affair. She is a an aspiring historian and after finding a apothecary vial near Thames river she is intrigued and as she finds more about the secret apothecary vial and its history. She soon learns about apothecary murders from the past, what Nella and Eliza did and their motives.
My thoughts:-
The book is written in three POVs and in dual timeline. It was a great historical fiction novel and you’d not feel as if this a debut novel by the author. I absolutely enjoyed reading this book and savored it. I loved the strong female characters in this story and the revenge arc on men who wronged them. I am almost mad at myself for not reading it sooner but better late than never. I loved the story's pace and how the author intertwined the past and present timeline seamlessly. The book is the perfect blend of historical fiction and murder mystery. This book is in my top five favorite reads of this year .
